Dear Studio Paris 16 guests,
Spring is arguably the most magical time to explore Paris. While most travelers flock to the Eiffel Tower or the Tuileries, we have a "local secret" to share with you. If you are staying with us this March, you are just a short trip away from one of the most beautiful and serene cherry blossom spots in the region: Parc de Billancourt.
Here is why this park is our top recommendation for a perfect Parisian spring afternoon.
🌸 Experience Hanami Without the Crowds
In Japan, "Hanami" is the tradition of welcoming spring by admiring the cherry blossoms (Sakura). While the famous Parc de Sceaux is often overcrowded and now requires advanced reservations, Parc de Billancourt offers a more spontaneous and peaceful experience.
It is completely free and requires no booking. You can simply walk in, find a bench under the pink petals, and enjoy the fleeting beauty of the early-blooming Japanese cherry trees. It is the perfect spot for a romantic stroll or a quiet moment with a book and a croissant.
🍃 From Industrial Heritage to Green Oasis
The park has a fascinating history. It sits on the former site of the Renault car factories, which once dominated this 70-hectare area. Today, it has been transformed from steel and concrete into one of the most innovative "green lungs" of the Paris outskirts.
As you walk through the pink-lined alleys, you’ll notice the modern architectural landscape of the Trapèze district, with the stunning La Seine Musicale and Île Seguin visible in the distance. It’s a beautiful blend of nature and contemporary urban design.
🗺️ Make a Day of It
To extend your spring walk, we highly recommend a 10-minute stroll to the nearby Musée Albert-Kahn. Its world-famous Japanese garden also features breathtaking cherry blossoms in a more traditional, Zen-like setting (entry fee applies).
After your walk, the surrounding neighborhood is full of trendy cafés and bistros where you can enjoy a coffee or a typical French lunch away from the heavy tourist traffic of central Paris.
🚇 How to Get There from Studio Paris 16
Getting there is incredibly easy, as the park is located just at the edge of the 16th arrondissement:
Location: Parc de Billancourt, cours de l'Île Seguin, Boulogne-Billancourt.
Metro: Take Line 9 (which runs directly through the 16th) and get off at Billancourt or Marcel Sembat.
Admission: Free for everyone, open daily.
The cherry blossoms (Sakura) usually bloom for only about two weeks in mid-to-late March. If you are lucky enough to be visiting during this window, don't miss this pink-hued Parisian dream!
Wishing you a wonderful spring stay in Paris,
The Studio Paris 16 Team
